I am so proud to be a candidate for the South Dakota House of Representatives in District 14. I grew up in a rural agricultural community where my mom was a teacher and my dad was a farmer. Together, they taught my siblings and me the importance of respecting our neighbors, working together, and meeting people where they’re at. I am running for office because South Dakotans deserve legislators who are willing to put aside partisan politics and find solutions to real challenges facing our communities.

In my work at a psychiatric residential treatment center for youth, as the assistant director of admission at Augustana University, and now at the Helpline Center, I have seen how progress can be made when we listen to what people need and work with them to develop solutions. I will draw on my personal experiences in agriculture, education, and mental health to be an effective voice in Pierre.

In my everyday life, I make it a priority to understand differences between people and build bridges. If I have the honor of representing District 14, I will make decisions by listening to and respecting all of my neighbors.

I will never pretend to have all of the answers. However, I promise to listen, put in the work, and do everything I can to find common ground. It’s what we all try to do with our families, at our jobs, and with our friends.

There’s no reason public service should be any different. With the election quickly approaching and as a first-time candidate, I need your support to win. Whether that’s making a financial contribution, volunteering your time, or helping spread the word on social media, I would be grateful for your help. Let’s get to work!
